Watched the 1940s film in uni today, 'The Third Man.' It's based on a book by Graham Greene, and adapted into a film by Carol Reed. It's all about post war Europe, namely Vienna, where it's set. Vienna was a very majestic city which was basically destroyed during the war, in which the black market was rife.
The film is renowned for distorted camera angles, with a documentary-influenced style.
The film was beautiful and inspiring, I always know I've gotten into a film when I want to dress like people from that film the next day- which I do! Although I don't think I have any 1940s clothes...
